Megastar Chiranjeevi's most highly expected comeback project Kathilantodu has been in the news over the past couple of years. After such a long pause, the film is all set to go to the sets from June 20 at Ramoji Film City. Veteran art director Thota Tharani designed large jail sets for this purpose. Unexpectedly, Kathilantodu's shooting will kick off with the prison scenes and Chiru's adventure escape from the prison. So, Chiru will land himself in the prison on the first-day shoot of his 150th project. In the Tamil original, these scenes were shot at a Kolkata prison, but the Telugu makers decided to erect sets.
In Kathilantodu, Chiru will be seen in double roles, one of a street intelligent thief and the other as a soft-spoken village activist. Tamil Kaththi was a huge blockbuster and it covered the way for Mega fans hoping for a similar fate even for the Telugu remake. Kathilantodu boasts of high profile technicians like Devi Sri Prasad for music and Rathnavelu for cinematography. Ram Charan himself will be producing the movie under his newly floated banner Konidela Productions.
