Kerala Rape and Murder Case: Cops Visited Court for Ameerul's Custody!

Kochi: The Special Investigation Team  investigating the Jisha murder case on Monday filed an application before the Perumbavur Judicial First Class Magistrate court seeking the custody of main accused Ameerul Islam till June 30. The cops  submitted that his custody was  needed to sprinkle more light on the case, especially the murder cause and to help the recovery of the weapons used to commit the crime. According to sources, the accused would be brought to the crime scene for evidence collection on Tuesday if the court allows the custodial plea. “The effort will be to recreate the situation on the day of crime like the entry of the accused and his escape through the back door and further route taken. The possibility of disposing of the weapons midway will also be probed,” they said.
A team on Monday investigated the canal and nearby areas behind the victim’s house in an effort to find out the weapons and clothes use by the accused on the  day of the murder. The knife earlier recovered from his lodge was found to be not the one used for the crime during the legal test. Ameerul will be taken to the victim’s house at Vattolipaddi Canal Road at  Eravichira, five km from Perumbavur town, with his heads covered as more identification parades will be held as part of evidence collection. Meanwhile, the probe currently focuses on whether there are more persons directly or indirectly linked to the murder. A special team, which is in Assam, questioned Ameerul’s friend Anar Islam there on the  events on April 28. “The two had a drinking session on the day and we also suspect his involvement in evidence destruction. However, he escaped from Assam after our questioning. We’re yet to get any solid evidence about his involvement,” the sources said.
